The BEST Mexican food in OKC, with the fastest and most courteous staff. My family and I eat at CP one or two times a month, and I'm still blown away by the quality of their food and the speed in which it comes, and always accurate! There is never a wait to be seated, and the chips and salsa are on your table within seconds. The salsa...best I've ever had at a restaurant. You can definitely taste the fresh tomatoes and garden vegetables dancing on your tongue. They'll even bring out hot, fresh made tortillas upon request, which are also amazing. For dinner, I usually opt for the Carne Asada and my wife the Carnitas, and we both get the Negro Modelo in the frozen fish-bowl (with lime on the rim, of course!). You'll be in and out in 30 minutes, unless you'd like to stay for another margarita or beer while you watch the mariachi band serenade the diners. Bravo to CP, we'll be back again and again!

This is my go-to authentic Mexican food joint. Polite and friendly atmosphere with excellent customer service! The food is where this place stands out amongst it's peers. Flavorful hot and fresh. You are missing out if you don't give this place a shot.

Went here for lunch with my wife on my day off from work. Overall pretty good mexican. We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant and our server was very friendly. The habenerro salsa is really good and was brought out in a sizzling cast iron skillet! Our food came out really fast and was of good quality. Lunch prices were reasonable as well.

Best service - everyone is always willing to customize your order and make sure you get exactly what you would like for dinner. The portions are good sized: so the meal is a good value. Friendly, family atmosphere with fresh vegetables. Good margaritas!

Been going here for years and will drive out of the way to come eat here. Mainly catch their lunch since it's located close to my work. Lunch time is a quick in and out. No complaints, great food and staff.

I love this place. It's the place I first think of when we're in the mood for Mexican food. To really enjoy this place, don't just order the traditional fare. They've got some great authentic Mexican foods that are really good. Be adventuresome and get out of your comfort zone here because this is the place to do it. You won't be disappointed.

Placed pick up for chicken nachos, never having them before. Gave them two stars because my order was ready quickly. Otherwise, there was rice under the cheese in my nachos, the chips were actually fried tortillas that were cut in half and the only topping was cheese! No sour cream, tomatoes, salsa, or anything for $12. There were two peas but I don't know what was up with that. Wont be back

Just like a hole in the wall mexican restaurant should be - delicious and not too expensive! You MUST try the Carnitas de Puerco - it's by far the best thing on the menu. We go there at least once a month - it's the best mexican place around!

Easily the best sopapilla I've had. Chicken quesadilla was great, too. They have some of the same menu items you'd find at other Tex-Mex places, but made differently than most others. The music selection is actually pretty decent, too.

Easily our favorite local Mexican stop. We drop in every week or two. My favorite is the Nachos de Fajitas Supreme, chicken or beef or both. I can't find a better nacho plate anywhere. Just writing this makes me want to go have some! My wife is hooked on the Carnitas de Puerco. Can't argue with her as the dish is excellent. We've tried to recreate it at home but just can't get it right. Maybe it's the copper kettle. Queso is good, salsa is great, and a side of fried jalapeño's and onions rolled in a tortilla is always good. The service is excellent and most have been there for years so we feel right at home. Go get some nachos!

This place was surprising. It looks like a hole in the wall, but it was pretty darn good. It was non-tex mex so be warned. They make their dishes much more "neighbor mom & pop" authentic. Try the huevos rancheros....warning! They are super spicey, like the authentic dish should be! My favorite Mexican restaurant in Oklahoma.

Food is consistently good, and I love their salsa. You get the full salsa/chip/queso/tortilla setup when you sit down. It is pretty pricey though, and drinks are expensive. Expect to spend ~$50 for two if you order entrees and beer or margaritas. But you do get a lot of food for the money. Carne asada is great.

Overall, our dining experience was good. We needed some comfort food, and stopped here for our first visit. The waiter's English was limited, and didn't understand that we wanted a pitcher of margaritas. So, instead he brough 2 large glasses of our drinks. I had the flautas d'pollo and my wife had the tacos d'carne. Family friendly atmosphere. Live music a plus.

This place used to be great, but has really went downhill. The service is not very good, we never got refills on our drinks, never was brought tortillas (even though we asked for them). Given the price and service, and how the taste has really went down hill.... I will not be returning.

Standard chips/salsa/queso but I question how much cheese was really used. I couldn't really taste any. Ordered the lunch fajitas and chicken Monterrey. Food was pretty good but don't know why grilled chicken with cheddar cheese and veggies need to cost 12.99. The 9.99 lunch special fajitas were priced right.

Awesome food. Very nice people. However, its always bust when we go. Which i dont care much about but you might. Usually crowded though. But worth it!

Among the best Mexican food in the area. Some of the staff can come across as quiet and not very helpful, but it's because they can barely speak English! Chips and salsa are great, also setup comes w/ queso. Ask for the fried chilis and onions when you order your drinks. I favor the carne asada, but the Chicken Monterrey is to die for. My wife diggs the Tacos a la Plancha. And another plus is a full bar. The location at NW 122nd and Penn is the best.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Yes, there is free (watered-down tasting) queso with the salsa. As far as the entrees go I was very unimpressed. The prices were not that "cheap" as I inferred from other reviews. We ordered the lunch mixed fajitas & taco salad and a margharita to share. The fajitas were well seasoned. I especially liked that the meat was tender and not overcooked. Pass on the taco salad. Absolutely no flavor in the ground beef. It looked like it came from taco bell. The margharita was decent and not too tart. Our server was pleasant and very attentive. Total bill was $33 including tip- for lunch!

Service can be iffy here- we went in one afternoon and stood at the "please wait to be seated" while, no joke, at least five employees stared at us for a good minute without offering any assistance. Finally, one waiter came over and took us to a table. Very odd and non-welcoming. The food is very solidly good though and earns every star. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot for your money. While I'm not a menudo fan myself (the soup or the band), Casa Perico's menudo looks to be of very high quality and I hear raves about it. It appears very rich and full of... tripe. Glitches in service aside, there's never a wait (like at Ted's Cafe Escondido sometimes) and you'll receive your food quickly and leave feeling content.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
